FAQ

How long have you been in business?

Gimme Paw Dog Walking has been growing since we started in 2010.

Are you insured and bonded?

Yes, we are fully insured and bonded.

Do you hire employees or independent contractors?

We only hire employees. It is illegal to hire independent contractors and we only operate above board.

What type of animals do you care for?

We care for dogs and cats, and sometimes accommodate other animals that need food, cleaning or just a cuddle!

How much do your services cost?

Pricing varies depending on the kind of walk or visit you would like. Check out the pricing page of our website for a full list or contact us if you have an unusual request.

How will I be billed?

Billing occurs on a bi-weekly basis by credit card (Master Card and Visa) via our online petcare app (www.petchecktechnology.com). We do not handle or store your credit card information, and you can update it at any time by logging on to petchecktechnology.com using a web browser (not the app). Invoices are also always accessible using a web browser.

Will I have the same dog walker every time?

If you are regularly scheduled for weekday walks, you will have a primary walker assigned to you for daily walks. We try to maintain walker consistency as much as possible, but in the event that your regular walker is out sick or on vacation, we will provide you with a fill-in dog walker (it's often one of our managers or senior staff such as Joe, Heidi, or Steve). We expect owners to appreciate that we are a core team of veteran dog walkers who have been providing pet care services for many years. If you choose our service then you should trust our judgement on the dog walkers we have working for us. That being said, if your dog has special needs and requires an intimate relationship with just one of our walkers, please let us know and we’ll be happy to discuss further and try to work out a personalized arrangement with you and your dog.

Why should I hire a dog walking service (as opposed to an individual walker)?

Gimme Paw Dog walking not only do you get the benefit of our years of experience, you also get year-round coverage. We will never leave you without a walker or cat sitter. Our walkers are fully trained and have round-the-clock management and supervision. Combined with our use of PetCheck technology, you can rest easy with Gimme Paw.

Why should I take your word for it?

You don’t have to! You can read our rave reviews or check us out on Yelp.

How many dogs will my dog be with on a walk?

We do not set limits on the number of dogs in our groups. However, our group walks must always be manageable and safe! You will never see us walking around with a massive pack of dogs. We always tell owners that it's less about the number of total dogs, and more about the temperament and energy level of each dog. We could have five or six mature dogs walking calmly together in a group. Conversely, we could be walking just two young dogs together that are playful and puppy crazy. It's our job as pet care professionals to evaluate our dogs and match them up properly for group walks. Trust us, we are just as concerned as you are about the safety of our group walking services. We invest a lot of time and attention in making sure your pup has a high-quality group walk experience!

Will my dog ever be left unattended?

We will never tie your dog up outside, and we do not take dogs to the dog park as rough play and over-stimulation can distract from top-quality care. Your walker will be with your dog on a leash at all times.

What kind of equipment do you use?

We are more particular about our equipment when it involves group walking. For group walks we require a four-foot nylon leash. We can provide one for you and we only charge you what it costs us ($4.95). We are okay with both harnesses and collars (as long as they are secure). For harnesses we highly recommended the RuffWear Webmaster Harnesses, but will use any harnesses as long as we deem it safe and appropriate for walking your dog.

How soon can my dog start?

Complete a contact form and we can get started as soon as possible.

What if my dog needs medication or needs to be fed after a walk? Do you give them treats?

We will be happy to give your dog breakfast, lunch or dinner at your direction, and administer medication at no extra charge. If you are treat-training or like to give your dog a snack after their walk, just provide the treats and we’ll do the rest! All special requests must be sent to us via email, and will be noted on our rota so that nothing falls through the cracks.

Do you offer cat visits?

Cat visits last anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on what your cats need; cleaning litter boxes, brushing, feeding, fresh water, dangling playtoys, giving medication etc.

What if I have to stay late at work? Can you give my dog an evening walk and dinner?

Gimme Paw Dog Walking has you covered! We can usually add last minute walks but the earlier we know the better we can accommodate you.

Do you charge Sales Tax?

New York State considers our pets ‘property’ so we are required by law to charge sales tax.

Should I tip my walker?

We certainly do not expect tips, however if you feel especially grateful if your walker goes out of their way to clean up an accident or mess, you can leave something for your walker. Many of our clients like to leave tips at holiday time, which is appreciated but not expected.
